The first in a series of larger scale paintings, Fuck/Luck was inspired by statuettes of the traditional Oaxacan tiger head Raul kept discovering in swap meets around the Los Angeles area. He paired the powerful and esoteric imagery of the tiger head with the vibrant colors reminiscent of Mexican towns; their houses and buildings electric with color. Fuck/Luck was made to embody the physical world and it’s loud, materialist, and distracting imagery. The bright vibrant colors and glowing neon fight for your attention with an urgency meant to evoke mortality.
